Casey Starks regularly offers group ceramics classes at her studio located at 550 Lighthouse Avenue, Suite A in Monterey. But if you're looking to fast track your ceramics learning or if you have a specific project in mind but need some guidance and help along the way, private lessons can be a good option for you.
Private ceramics lessons consist of four 2-hour sessions given over four weeks and include instruction on everything from basic construction through finishing and glaze firing. Scheduling is flexible - we'll find a time that works for you!
Fee is $345 and includes 10 pounds of clay; studio work space; use of all tools, firing, and glazes; two firings of work (one bisque, one glaze), four weekly 2-hour sessions over the course of 4 weeks. Find more information and register here.
Esteban Restaurant, located at 700 Munras Avenue in Downtown Old Monterey, is now open for breakfast Monday - Friday, 7am-10am, and Saturday and Sunday, 7am-1am.
Small breakfast plates include house-made cinnamon rolls with vanilla bean and cream cheese frosting; chia pudding with Amen wild flower honey, house-made granola, and seasonal berries; and morning montadito (breakfast toast specials).
Cage-free egg dishes include Spanish chorizo and sweet potato hash with Ad Astra sourdough toast plus a made-to-order omelet with a choice of three fillings. Heartier dishes include a breakfast burrito with Mexican chorizo, potatoes, and salsa ranchera.
Beverages include fresh coffee and an assortment of made-to-order espresso drinks with freshly ground organic beans and a variety of flavor shots. Esteban's extensive bar features a bubbly and refreshing bottomless mimosa and a Casa Bloody Mary perfectly spiced and seasoned.

Venture Gallery presents the work of France Ruhnke, our featured artist for February. Her exhibit, entitled Metamorphosis, explores color, texture, and ornamental touches, creating a world of constant rejuvenation.

Kernza is the first perennial grain crop that's a cousin of wheat and a long-time forage grass that was domesticated by The Land Institute in Kansas. As a perennial, Kernza regrows each year without needing to be tilled or replanted. This allows the roots to reach nearly 15 feet deep – 6 times deeper than regular wheat. Those massive roots sequester carbon, prevent erosion, clean and filter water, and prevent nitrogen runoff.
