Cafe Lumiere Closing on November 8

Posted on November 2nd, 2020 by Cafe Lumiere

We are sad to report that on Sunday, November 8, Cafe Lumiere will be closing our doors permanently at 365 Calle Principal in Downtown Old Monterey. That means there are only a few days left to get yelled at by Tanina, grab one of Cirilo’s scones, and get ignored by Brandi.

Friends of Lumiere, please consider donating to Cafe Lumiere's Employee Relief Fund. We want to make sure our employees are taken care of during this time of transition. The money will be disbursed to our current and former employees for their rent, bills and other necessities.

We love you and we’ll see you soon.

Venture Gallery presents a show by William Eatmon, our featured artist for November. We invite you to come and view his paintings. Venture Gallery is now open for in-store shopping Thursdays - Sundays, 10am-6pm.

As our featured artist this month, William Eatmon presents his Tribute Series: paintings, each representative of a major movement in art. Personally, William is most influenced by Klimt and it is evident in both his figurative and abstract works. In his abstract work, you'll find evidence of cosmic objects such as galaxies, nebulae, and stars.

William's artwork will be featured through November 2020. Venture Gallery is located at 260 Alvarado Street in Downtown Old Monterey. Visit our website to shop online for work by our local artists.

We are sad to report that Steve Smith, a much-beloved long-time employee of Carpets & Floors on Lighthouse Avenue in Monterey, has sustained a serious brain injury and is in serious condition in the hospital. He is the sole provider for his four young children and wife, and may not be able to work for quite some time.

His friends attest to the fact that Steve has always been a person who tries to help other people in need. You may have met him outside Carpets & Floors during the Lighthouse District Children's Trick-or-Treat - he always has kindness and a smile for all the kids who stop by. His friends have set up a GoFundMe campaign to try and help him and his family financially. If you are able at this time, please consider making a donation.

Great news, nacho fans: Nacho Bizness is now open at 470 Alvarado Street in Downtown Old Monterey! That's right, they've left Lighthouse Avenue in New Monterey and relocated to the center of the known [Monterey] universe. They now have a fun, newly redecorated restaurant where they're slinging piping hot 'chos and burritos for take-out. It's the ultimate pandemic comfort food.

Nacho Bizness makes their own cheese sauces (both dairy and vegan), pico de gallo, and guacamole in house from scratch, and they only use Taco Works chips, made in San Luis Obispo. Gluten free options abound! All take-out packaging is green certified. Open Sunday - Monday, 11am-7pm, and Tuesday - Saturday, 11am-10pm. Come on down and find your bliss.
