Posted on August 20th, 2020 by sheldon

It is the dog days of summer like never before in 2020. The heat is blah. The pandemic that won't go away is blah. The smoke and wildfires is terrifying, worrisome, and blah. Well, we picked out some fun things you can get in Downtown Campbell that just might cheer you or someone else up a little. Even better is that most of these items are products that you can order online from our retailers, have delivered curbside, or pick-up with minimal contact.

In case you need another reason to check out some of our retail shops this summer, any purchase of $25 or more at one of our retailers will get you a 10% discount at over a dozen Downtown Campbell eateries when you present your receipt upon ordering through August 31st.

We hope you're hungry because for the rest of the month of August, we're showing some Campbell Love.

Campbell Love is our great restaurant rebate of 2020 in Downtown Campbell. A bunch of our eateries have banded together to give you a discount of 10% off your food bill if you support one of their retail shop neighbors with a purchase of $25 or more. All you have to do is make a your purchase at one of the retail stores listed below between August 14th and 31st and show your receipt when placing your order at your eatery of choice.

Also, don't forget to send in a photo of both your retail receipt and your food receipt to enter our monthly prize drawings.

Did you know that we now have convenient 24-minute “Curbside Zones” setup along all of the cross streets to Downtown Campbell to make it easy for you to drop in and out to pick up orders, get curbside deliveries, or grab takeout? Look for these green signs that are placed on top of the normal parking signs.

We’ve also published a new parking map on downtowncampbell.com to help you understand your parking options with Campbell Ave closed to automobile traffic. Nearly all of the lots in Downtown Campbell are still accessible. You can get to them from the cross streets.

The main road is only closed to make more room for you to spread out in our more socially distanced downtown. Shops and eateries are open 7 days a week!

Bamboo Reef Dive Shop and Shark Stewards are coordinating a Community Science Dive at Lover's Point in Pacific Grove on Sunday, August 16, 10am-2pm, collecting observations in collaboration with Snapshot Cal Coast. You don't even need to dive to participate - you can also collect data in tidepools!

Face masks are required for everyone when you're not diving. For more information, please visit the event webpage. Advance registration is required - Shark Stewards will contact you with details on what to bring, where to meet, etc.

Snapshot Cal Coast is an annual California statewide citizen science effort that encourages people to make and share observations of plants, animals, and seaweeds along the California coast using the iNaturalist app. Led by the California Academy of Sciences with support from the California Ocean Protection Council, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and the MPA (Marine Protected Area) Collaborative Network, we are creating a valuable snapshot in time of where species are located along our coast.

For 1-2 weeks every year, we mobilize and organize our partners from Del Norte to San Diego and everywhere in between to make and share observations of as many species as possible to build an annual snapshot of biodiversity along the California coast. We’re providing valuable data for scientists at local, regional, and state levels, and answering targeted research questions in support of California Marine Protected Areas. Together, we're gathering the data needed to determine species ranges now against which we can measure and monitor in the future.

Bamboo Reef Dive Shop is located at 614 Lighthouse Avenue in Monterey.
