Well, this isn't really Downtown Campbell news, but it's about one of our guys, Randy Musterer, aka Sushi Randy of Sushi Sushi [Confidential]. Thanks to the great success of the Campbell location, there'll be a second location opening up in Downtown San Jose. Silicon Valley Business Journal wrote a wonderful article summarizing Randy's journey from doing the biotech life of a cancer researcher through his apprenticeship under master sushi chefs and eventually to launching one of the most talked about sushi restaurants in the South Bay. It's well worth the read. Congratulations Sushi Randy!

Best Dental Tools for Daily Use

Posted on October 12th, 2015 by smilebeautiful

Excellent dental hygiene begins at home. Dental hygiene starts with brushing and flossing, but it doesn’t just end there. We need to take care of our teeth with effective and high-quality tools. There are tons of dental tools out there, so where should you start? We have created a list of the best dental tools for daily use, beginning with the best flossing tools on the market:

Water flosser: Sometimes, typical flossing tools just won’t do the trick. Water flossers are an excellent tool to improve your overall gum health by reducing risk for plaque, gingivitis, and gum disease. Water flossers work by using water pressure to loosen, and ultimately, remove plaque and food particles between our teeth.

Airfloss Pro: An Airfloss Pro is a new way to thoroughly floss our teeth. This tool delivers three bursts of air and liquid microdroplets to improve our gum health and reduce risk of gum disease.

Another tool that belongs in your bathroom cabinet is the Gum interdental brush. This brush is designed to reach the places your toothbrush can’t. It is a clinically-proven product designed to effortlessly remove unwanted plaque and food particles from the tiny areas between your teeth.

There are millions of toothbrushes to choose from. From Oral B Laboratories toothbrushes to Dr. Fresh, the options are practically limitless. To make finding the right toothbrush much easier, we have created a list of the top 3 toothbrushes:

Nimbus Microfine Toothbrush
Oral-B Pro-health Crossaction Toothbrush
Oral-B Pro-Health Clinical Pro-Flex Medium Toothbrush

We can’t forget about mouthwashes. Here are the top 5 mouthwashes on the market:

Best whitening mouthwash: Rembrandt Deeply White
Longest-lasting mouthwash: Scope Outlast
Most refreshing mouthwash: Listerine Ultraclean
Best all-natural mouthwash: Jāsön Healthy Mouth Cinnamon Clove
Best all-around mouthwash: Crest Pro-Health Multi-Protection

Last, but not least: toothpastes. Choose from one of these top 4 toothpastes:

Foamiest toothpaste: Aquafresh Iso-Active Whitening Fresh Impact
Best whitening toothpaste: Luster White 7
Best overall toothpaste: Colgate Total Enamel Strength
Best toothpaste for sensitive teeth: Crest Pro-Health Sensitive Shield

If you have any questions about which dental tools to purchase, don’t hesitate to call Lighthouse Family Dentistry. Contact us at drvankootendmd@gmail.com or (831) 373-0478. We are happy to answer any of your questions.

Steepers is coming up to its two year anniversary so we would like to offer you an opportunity to take home a wonderful gift basket with a retail value of over $130! Entry Tickets will be handed out until 7pm Friday, October 16th and the winner will be drawn at random at 5pm on Sunday, October 18 (close of Oktoberfest and on the anniversary date). You don't need to be present to win. Good luck and thank you for being a loyal customer!

Downtown Campbell is proud to be continuing our participation in the Books for Treats program this Halloween at our October 30th Creepy Crawly Halloween event. Books for Treats is a program that originally started in Willow Glen in 2001 and has since spread across the country. Evidently, it's a thing. It's a good thing!

Downtown Campbell joined the tradition a few years ago, but it's not easy getting as many as 2000 books gathered to give out to the growing hordes of little goblins that fill Downtown every Halloween. We wouldn't be able to do it without the generous volunteer help from the Campbell Rotary, Delphi Academy, and the Home Church to solicit donations, hold book drives, and raise money to buy books. We're so grateful for the help we get from these wonderful community organizations.
