Native Sons of the Golden West and Monterey Parlor #75 invite you to join them in recognition of the U.S. annexation of California in 1846, when Commodore John Drake Sloat’s military contingent landed at Custom House in Monterey after the surrender of the Mexican garrison there. Re-enactors will “reclaim” Alta California, Mexico and raise the 28-star U.S. flag over Custom House. The ceremony takes place in front of Custom House.
