Presentation & Potluck: Panel Discussion of Documentary "I Am Not Your Negro"

This event has already passed

On Monday, February 27, the Monterey Hostel is pleased to host a free potluck and a discussion by a local panel of speakers reflecting on the recently released documentary, I Am Not Your Negro (playing at Osio Theater in Old Monterey beginning February 17).

In this acclaimed documentary, filmmaker Raoul Peck uses only James Baldwin's own words. Weaving Baldwin's texts together, Peck imagines the book Baldwin never finished about his three assassinated friends: Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King.

The optional potluck will begin at 6pm, the discussion will begin at 6:45pm. (Help setting up at 5:30pm is appreciated.) Everyone is welcome! If you're attending the potluck, please bring your favorite side-dish to share or make a small monetary donation. For more information, please phone 831-372-5762 or 831-649-0375.
