Demetri Martin is an American comedian, actor, artist, musician, writer, and humorist. He is best known for his work as a stand-up comedian, being a contributor on The Daily Show, and his Comedy Central show, Important Things with Demetri Martin.

Martin was born in New York City to a Greek American family. In 2001, he caught his first big break in stand-up comedy when he appeared on Comedy Central's stand-up showcase, Premium Blend. Starting in late 2005, he was credited as a contributor on The Daily Show, on which he appeared as the named "Senior Youth Correspondent" and hosted a segment called "Trendspotting.” In 2009, he hosted and starred in his own television show called Important Things With Demetri Martin on Comedy Central.

Although best known from TV, actor-comedian Demetri Martin has acted in such movies as Contagion, Taking Woodstock, and In A World.... Now, he adds a few more hyphens to his resume as the writer-director-star of Dean, a 2017 comedy about a New York-based illustrator who flees to Los Angeles after his mother dies.
