First Friday: Celebrate "Iluminado" at Monterey Museum of Art
This event has already passed
Join Monterey Museum of Art for free, after-hours access during this special edition of First Friday, celebrating the opening of our new annual holiday exhibit, Iluminado. On Friday, December 1, 5pm-8pm, revel in the fun and enjoy drinks, small-bites, art activities, and a live set by DJ Hanif Wondir. Wine and beer will be available to purchase.
Central to the museum's Iluminado exhibit (December 1-22), is a mesmerizing series of artful trees created by local artists Edi Matsumoto, Elizabeth Murray, Mark Schlegel, JP Frary, and Sea Sevilla and Avelino Sanher of La Neta Murals. These trees serve as dynamic canvases where visitors are not simply spectators - they're collaborators invited to help shape the exhibition through art prompts that engage the visitors' creativity and reflection. With every visitor's addition, the trees evolve in stature and meaning.
