Reading on the Ave Book Club: Lies My Teacher Told Me

Past event: Wed, Apr 25 2012, 7pm

All are welcome to attend the Reading on the Avenue Book Club, which meets in the Community Room of Willow Glen Library. On Wednesday, April 25, we'll be discussing Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything Your American History Textbook Got Wrong by James A. Loewen.

Americans have lost touch with their history, and James Loewen shows us why; after surveying 18 leading high school American history texts, he concludes that not one makes history interesting or memorable.  In this book, Loewen revives our history, restoring the vitality and relevance it truly possesses.  Thought-provoking, nonpartisan, and often shocking, Loewen unveils the real America in this iconoclastic classic beloved by high school teachers, history buffs, and enlightened citizens across the country.
