Reading on the Ave Book Club: The Moviegoer

Past event: Wed, Mar 28 2012, 7pm

All are welcome to attend the Reading on the Avenue Book Club, which meets in the Community Room of Willow Glen Library. On Wednesday, March 28, we'll be discussing The Moviegoer by Walker Percy.

The winner of the 1961 National Book Award, this dazzling novel established Walker Percy as one of the major voices in Southern literature.  It's the story of Binx Bolling, a young New Orleans stockbroker, who embarks on a hare-brained Mardi Gras quest that outrages his family, endangers his fragile cousin Kate, and sends him reeling through the chaos of New Orleans' French Quarter. Wry and wrenching, rich in irony and romance, The Moviegoer is a genuine American classic.
