After nearly four years of being closed for renovation, on May 9, 2026, the Campbell Library building reopened with loud gongs, lion dancers, good wishes, and a lot of people who came to take their first look at the new library. The wait was worth it.
The new Library is a gorgeous facility that's been re-imagined with the kind of amenities needed for a modern library to serve its community as a public resource and nexus of community interaction. It has multiple lounge areas with plenty of natural light, semi-private booth spaces, a separate children's library with a play area, a teen and young adult area, a wired up community meeting room, laptops that can be checked out, and more. Libraries have evolved in the current digital age and the newly reinvented Campbell Library is a stellar example of the library of the next 50 years.
The Campbell Library project was primary funded through Measure O, which was passed with a 69.5% majority from Campbell voters in 2018 to improve the Campbell Public Library and Campbell Police Station. Measure O is a $50 million general obligation bond funded through levies on properties in Campbell that is raising approximately $3 million annually.
Some of these photos are from a sneak peek a few days before the grand re-opening on on May 9, 2026. The rest of the photos were taken at the reopening ceremony and some are archive photos of the old library building.
