Attention California Playwrights! Paper Wing Theatre in Monterey is soliciting new, unpublished, original full-length plays for its Fourth Annual Summer Play Reading Festival, June 7-11, 2017.
Paper Wing Theatre’s play-reading festivals offer a rare opportunity for writers to share their hard work with the world. The reward, if selected, is the opportunity to hear their words read onstage and to receive honest feedback from actors and audience members. There is also the possibility that the theater will include the play among its productions, the ultimate goal of any playwright. The play Mozambique was chosen from the 2015 festival, and the play Daughters of Nothing from the 2016 festival.

The Lighthouse District's own Manuel Ortega, of Manuel Ortega Photography, has won a Silver Award from the 2017 Wedding & Portrait Photographers International Annual Print Competition for his photo! A lot goes on in Downtown Campbell. We have street entertainment twice a month, wine walks, beer walks, art walks, and lots of other odds and ends events that make Downtown Campbell such an engaging little downtown. The membership of the Downtown Campbell Business Association (DCBA) is responsible for much of what happens in Downtown Campbell and if it were not for their countless hours of volunteer work, Downtown Campbell would not be the place that it is today.
Each year, the DCBA picks a member of the year to honor for all of their hard work and contributions to the social climate in Downtown Campbell. This year we're honoring Kelly Crowley, the general manager and driving force behind the popular sports lounge, Khartoum. Running a popular watering hole is already a lot of work so it's no small wonder how she finds the time to do as much as she does for the rest of Downtown. Kelly is a board member of the DCBA, the current treasurer, a past membership chair, coordinator of the Second Saturdays Artwalk, an organizer of our wine walks, and has been involved behind the scenes of many other activities for many years.
We couldn't be happier and prouder to say that Kelly Crowley is our member of the year for 2017. If you see her, show her some love. She's worked her tail off to help make Downtown Campbell the place that it is.

For profit organizations will be subject to a $50 parade entrance fee that will be due upon acceptance into this year's parade.
The Bunnies and Bonnets Parade is not a city funded event and relies largely on funds donated by people and businesses to continue operating year after year. If you enjoy the Bunnies and Bonnets Parade, please consider making a small donation to help the Downtown Campbell Business Association cover the costs of fees, services, and materials needed to produce the parade.

Dali17 at the Museum of Monterey has a new film series in our theater as of February 2017. Included in the price of admission, you can see our 3:30pm daily showing of Impressions of Upper Mongolia, the only film ever directed by Salvador Dali. This unique and fascinating intersection between documentary and surrealism depicts a fictitious journey to “Upper Mongolia” in search of a potent psychedelic mushroom and the culture that lives there. Also featured in our film series are other films by Dali and documentaries about his life and works.
