Recording of Workshop: Transportation Sea Level Rise Adaptation Plan

Posted on January 6th, 2021 by lighthouseave

If you missed the Monterey Planning Commission Meeting on December 8, they hosted the second in a series of virtual community workshops to discuss how to adapt our transportation system to the projected sea level rise and they made a recording of it.

To watch the workshop, please forward the YouTube video to about 3 hours and 3 minutes into the recording of the Planning Meeting (marked as 3:03). The City of Monterey is developing a Climate Change web page that will be ready soon and will provide more information.

Things we miss from The Before Times...Tiki Tuesdays! But Hula's Island Grill is turning on the time machine and beginning this week, 2pm-8pm on Tuesdays, they're offering tiki cocktails, half litres of Hinano beer, and Scenic Stout for only $7 each. The only catch? All adult beverages must be purchased with food. And it's all gotta be picked up at the curb.

Hula's Island Grill is located at 622 Lighthouse Avenue in Monterey. Check out the menu here and give them a call at 831-655-4852 to place your food and drink order for pick-up.

As you know, it has been a very tough winter for restaurants with the December 2020 Shelter-in-Place order requiring restaurants to close outdoor dining. A guest videography team wanted to do something nice for restaurant businesses struggling in the Covid-19 pandemic and they chose Downtown Campbell as the location to shoot a short promotional video.

The SeeFood team did a wonderful video featuring Downtown Campbell restaurants and gave our eateries a chance to express their gratitude for the support that you've given us in 2020. That so many of our eateries survived 2020 is a testament to how much our community has been there for us. To everyone who's been ordering take-out to keep our restaurants alive, we cannot thank you enough.

Thanks for visiting Downtown Campbell, SeeFood team and thank you so much for the great video!

Let us know who they are! The deadline is this Sunday, January 10th.

Cheryl Graham has been a beloved friend and dedicated employee at Parker-Lusseau Pastries and Cafe for 12 years. The Monday before Christmas, Cheryl suffered a stroke at work. Staff called 911 and she was immediately transported to CHOMP. On December 31, she was moved to CHOMP's Acute Rehab Center, where she is receiving the best care available and currently undergoes three therapy sessions each day.

Cheryl has a long road to recovery ahead of her. If you are able, please consider contributing to Cheryl Graham's GoFundMe page to help pay the bills as she travels this difficult journey.

From Parker-Lusseau:
In Cheryl's eyes, our customers come first. No matter what kind of day she is having, she always has something nice to say to them - a simple smile, a hug (pre-Covid), a compliment, while fixing their favorite drink. She knows many customers on a first name basis. We ALL love her.
