My schedule is varied so I ask that you call ahead, 831-290-8180, before visiting the shop as I may be out doing pick-ups and drop-offs for those customers who prefer not to leave their homes. I am offering a 10% discount on your first repair or service with I Will Repair.

Union Yoga Now Offers Streaming Classes on Zoom

Posted on March 27th, 2020 by UnionYoga

Union Yoga is now offering daily streaming classes on Zoom! When you look at the schedule on our website, you'll find a sweet surprise. No longer are we bound by our teachers' proximity to the studio - both Annie Petersen and Jenn DiMeiro will be rejoining the studio staff! We have missed them SO much.

All classes will be offered via Zoom. To take a class, you must register at least one hour in advance of the start time on our website. This allows us to send everyone the Zoom link that is unique to your class. View our current rates here.

To join a class, you'll need to download the Zoom app onto your device. (You do not need to sign up for an account to attend a class, you just need the app.) Your current class package or Union Yoga Membership will apply. You will need to purchase your class before you sign up.

Approximately 45 minutes before the start of class, you will receive an email from FitGrid which will include the Zoom link. Your teacher may also add extra instructions. Please confirm that your email address in your MindBody/Union Yoga account is correct and you're o.k. to receive communications or you will not receive the class link. (If you do not receive the link, check your junk mail folder.)

Log in a few minutes before class and the teacher will start the session, linking everyone to the class. Keep in mind that the teacher has invited you into his/her home to practice and to have fun as a group. Please dress appropriately for a group class or keep your camera off. Dogs and cats are welcome to join!

Additional classes will be added in the coming days. As always, the class schedule is posted on Instagram Story each evening. If you have kids, Marybeth is teaching a Kids yoga class every weekday morning - find her on Instagram at @maybemurray.

We will also continue offering occasional Instagram Live classes. Vimeo meditation, flow, yin and therapeutics, trauma and addiction recovery focused classes will be arriving soon and available for members to access on demand.

This is, of course, a time where we really are forced to be with the present moment. What will get us through this is a practice of wellness and an intention to stay clear, agile, and kind.

You can't go to the gym, but you can exercise your MIND! Sovino Wine Bar's Trivia Night will continue remotely every Monday at 7pm during the shelter-in-place order. Trivia will be held via Zoom and Classmarker.com. To play, please visit our website and purchase "Trivia" to receive the necessary links. For the March 30th game, the $10 fee will be waived when you make a Sovino purchase. Please pay in advance and join in the fun!

Downtown Old Monterey Shelter-in-Place Dining Guide

Posted on March 25th, 2020 by omba

Just because there's a pandemic happening doesn't mean you can't eat well. Many of Downtown Old Monterey's restaurants are open exclusively for take-out and delivery orders. To help you find which restaurants are still running, we've set up the Old Monterey Shelter-in-Place Dining Guide, which lists restaurants offering pick-up or delivery during Monterey County's shelter-in-place order.

At our Dining Guide, you'll also find operating hours, menus, contact information, and links to delivery services. Please note that most restaurants are open limited hours and those may change without notice.

Please remember to respect the safety of everyone who's working in Old Monterey to allow you to Shelter in Style. Follow the directions of the restaurant crews on how to pay and get your food. Maintain the recommended six feet of distance from them and other customers at all times, and if you are sick absolutely do not leave your home. (Many delivery services now offer no-contact home delivery, which is great if you're not feeling well.)

Thank you for your understanding. Please stay healthy, support local businesses if you can, and enjoy some of Old Monterey's amazing food, perfect for lifting your spirits.

Work Horse Bicycles, located at 486 Washington Street in Downtown Old Monterey, is now open and doing our best to help you with essential repairs and sales you may need for your bike during Monterey County's shelter-in-place order.

We are now offering bike service and sales by appointment only. Please call us at 831-375-2144 so we can do our best to support you and keep personal contact to a minimum. We can also handle orders over the phone for everyone's convenience.

Our current operating hours are Monday-Friday, 1pm-6pm. We are closed Saturday and Sunday.

Are your kids housebound? Code Ninjas Monterey will keep them engaged, coding, and having fun through our at-home livestream coding sessions! Your kids will complete fun activities that put their ninja coding skills to the test and show off what they’ve learned by building video games kids love.

Our livestream coding sessions encourage productive and creative screen time, boost problem solving and critical thinking skills, and allow your children to receive ongoing support and guidance from our instructors.

Monthly enrollment for Code Ninjas' at-home coding is $249. All enrolled families will receive two free one-hour online coding sessions per week until April 6, 2020.

Also, childcare is available daily for all members and the community. Seating is limited - if you're interested, please call us at 831-200-3924. We have been given permission to operate during the shelter-in-place order and are following guidelines set by the Monterey County Health Department.

At Pacific Bowls and Rolls, we appreciate the work of essential service providers - everyone from the police and health care workers to our local grocers! During the Monterey County shelter-in-place order, we're offering all essential service providers a deal of "buy one get one 50% off" for our poke bowls or sushi rolls.

Just get your team together, phone in your order to 831-583-8433, and let us know whether you prefer pick-up or delivery. View our menu here. Pacific Bowls and Rolls is located at 475 Alvarado Street in Downtown Old Monterey.

In Downtown Old Monterey, a number of restaurants are switching from being dine-in restaurants to take-out and food delivery services. After being quarantined, you're probably starting to yearn for a taste of your former life, but you may hesitate because you're not sure if it's safe to do so.

Is it safe to eat take-out food during the Covid-19 pandemic?

While it's up to you to make the final call on this, we quote some reputable sources in saying that take-out food and food delivery is safe to consume. The Covid-19 virus is a respiratory virus that's predominantly transmitted through inhaling respiratory droplets emitted by infected individuals. The chance of transmission through food is unlikely and there have been no known incidences of Covid-19 transmission from eating food. There have also been no known incidences of SARS (close cousin of Covid-19) transmission through food.

The food itself may be a low risk, but encountering other people on your way to receiving your food is not a low risk so please be mindful of how much distance you are giving other people including the people who are working to get you your orders. Remember, we're not just concerned for your safety, we're also concerned about ours as well. Please stay six feet away and absolutely do not leave your home if you are sick.

Though Old Capitol Books is closed, we still want to help in our community. That's why we're volunteering with the Monterey COVID-19 Mutual Aid Project in coordination with Direct Action Monterey Network. If you can volunteer to help deliver groceries to immunocompromised people, people with disabilities, or people with asthma, please sign up online. If you need help, please reach out.

There are so many ways to volunteer. If you can't leave your home, you can still volunteer to check in on people, lend board games, or talk to people on the phone who are experiencing fear and anxiety.

In this time we all need to be there for each other. Stay safe, stay healthy.

Even though Alvarado Street Brewery and Grill is temporarily shut down, feel free to give us some love via our online store! We have plenty of merchandise, gift cards, etc. on there to cheer you up. It's also a welcome way for you to support our business until we open the doors again. Visit our website to check it out.

Alvarado Street Brewery and Grill is located at 426 Alvarado Street in Downtown Old Monterey.

The San Jose Mercury News recently covered one of the Shelter-in-Place endeavors of Flights Restaurants President/CEO Alex Hult. Since the shutdown started, Alex has turned his attention from running his restaurants to doing what he can to help those in need in the community even though the effects of the shutdown has been devastating to him and his restaurants.

Straight on the heels of his #FeedTheNeed campaign that allows people to donate money to deliver family style meals to elderly and needy residents in the South Bay, Alex launched the Flights Family Market, a no-touch drive through grocery offering staples, prepared foods, and some gourmet items for good measure. You just drive up, choose the items you want, pay online, and everything will be loaded in your trunk for you.

Flights Family Market is open from 12-7pm daily and is available at the Flights Los Gatos location at 165 Los Gatos-Saratoga Rd in Los Gatos.

The Lighthouse District's own little neighborhood grocery store, International Market and Deli, is now open during Monterey County's shelter-in-place order, offering a selection of food and other essentials. They have a remarkable stock of nonperishable items, including dry beans, grains, rice, and canned goods...and they occasionally have toilet paper. They also carry breads, cheese, meat, snacks, sweets, and more. View a list of items on their website.

International Market owners Gloria and Adil are committed to serving the New Monterey community during this difficult time. They bring in new supplies almost every day, and are offering free home delivery to seniors, families with children, and those with disabilities.

You're welcome to drop in, but because the market is small, they also offer curbside shopping to minimize contact between customers. Just call or e-mail your grocery order so they can prepare your bags in advance and arrange for a pickup time. You can pay by credit card at the curb or on the sidewalk using the market's portable credit card device.

International Market and Deli is located at 580 Lighthouse Avenue in Monterey and is open Monday - Saturday, 10am-7pm, and Sunday, 11am-4pm. You can contact them via e-mail or by phone at 831-375-9451.
