Last year Kwench made a change from serving smoothies made from all natural ingredients and fresh fruits to being a frozen desserts shop specializing in rolled ice cream. They changed their name to Kwench Kreamery and started a new life in frozen treats.

Well, they DID make a really awesome smoothie didn't they? Longtime Kwench customers kept going to Kwench Kreamery and asking Reena for the return of her amazing smoothies. She finally relented and so you can now get smoothies at Kwench Kreamery again.

Smoothies are back by popular demand... but you really do need to try the hand rolled ice cream if you haven't yet!

The Custom House Store has a great new item in stock! These handcrafted leather-bound journals, made by Richard Bigelow of Sacramento, are filled with hand-sewn pages of parchment-like paper and close with a metal clasp. The edge of the hide is used, so each journal's cover is unique, and several different colors are available. Come and see them at our shop inside the historic Custom House at 1 Custom House Plaza in Monterey.

2019 Monterey Bay Skate Jam Series

On the Beach Surf Shop is proud to sponsor the 2019 Monterey Bay Skate Jam Series! Our skate jams are designed to be a fun and interactive competitive event for riders, friends, and family alike. With a live DJ, product tosses, food, and drinks (and, on occasion, demos, games of skate, and other fun events), we invite skaters, friends, and family to come out and enjoy the day with us.

There are 3 age divisions: 9 and under, 10-15, and 16 and up. Riders will be judged based on: creativity, style, consistency, variety (in tricks and use of obstacles), and difficulty.

Sign-ups start at 9am, contests start at 10am. Normally, the event runs until 3pm (but with new events the contest could run a little later). Dates and locations are as follows:

Play Full Ground's Creativity Based Learning Programs are for individuals, private groups, businesses, and organizations to enhance critical thinking, problem solving, communication, and collaboration skills through the creative process of "think - do - share" with hands-on making activities in an encouraging and fun environment.

Creativity Coaching for individuals:
1 hour of consultation plus 6 hours of one-on-one work time and access to equipment, materials, and other useful resources for your personal project. Fee is $200 per person.

For businesses, organizations, schools:
We offer flexibility and adaptability training, team-building, business retreats, and more.

For private groups:
We offer creative and fun gatherings and group learning experiences, incorporating activities such as print making, book making, drawing, mixed media, and sewing.

Workshops can be customized depending on your needs, challenges, and wishes and held at Play Full Ground or at your place (we can bring props to turn your location into a playful and fun workshop space). Fees for organizations and groups vary depending on content, length, size of group, and location and include instruction, materials, and tools.

Mai Ryuno, the founder of Play Full Ground, is an artist and educator. She has a Masters degree in Fine Arts plus over 10 years of teaching experience in art and creativity, acting as a mentor for young global leaders, and practicing socially engaged art.

Monterey State Historic Park's Los Niños summer camp is still open for enrollment! One week programs are scheduled June 17-21 and June 24-28, 2019. This is a historical and hands-on summer day-program for students entering grades 3rd-6th. The program takes the students from Native through American eras of California history by practicing fun activities and visiting important landmarks in Old Monterey.

Prime Fitness is happy to welcome Kadalyst Wellness and Physical Therapy to our studio, located at 191 Lighthouse Avenue, Suite B, in Monterey.

Kadalyst Wellness and Physical Therapy helps adults suffering with back, shoulder, and knee pain to return to exercising, provides fall risk reduction training for those with balance issues, and helps with post-operative care.

Nathan Kadlecek, PT, DPT is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, competitive powerlifter, and former collegiate athlete where he punted and place kicked for Harding University. He completed his physical therapy education at Columbia University in New York City. He is a Northern California native who is happy to be back home and serving his community.
