As of July 31st, the main drag in Downtown Campbell has been closed down to east/west traffic to allow restaurants and retailers to expand their operation out into the street. Depending on how this goes, the street will remain closed for at least two weeks. This is a learning experience for everyone so don't be surprised if there are changes in the coming weeks.

Paper Wing Theatre Company has a big announcement to make...We're moving! Paper Wing has plans to eventually open a full Theatre Supper Club at 711 Cannery Row for upscale dinners and shows. But, for now, we will be opening the kitchen within the next three weeks for takeout and delivery.

Food will be delivered by costumed actors as we create the new concept of "Dinner and a Show to GO!" Our menu will be California coastal cuisine, serving lunch and dinner with breakfast options on weekends.

The Monterey trolley returns! This free service will operate June 25 - September 5, 10am-6pm daily. Park in the Downtown Monterey Garage (340 Tyler), Cannery Row Garage (601 Foam), or the Waterfront Lot (245 Washington) and get a free ride to all of your favorite attractions including the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Cannery Row, the Lighthouse District, Downtown Old Monterey, and Old Fisherman's Wharf.

Most of you have probably heard that the State of California and Monterey County lifted the indoor mask mandate on February 16 for people who are vaccinated for Covid.**

This means that, as of February 16, businesses in Downtown Old Monterey are not required to enforce masking and social distancing for anyone who's been vaccinated. Keep in mind that they can still request that everyone wear a mask while on their premises.

Please remember that each small business is run by someone who has a family and is dealing with challenges that you can't see. If a business is still requiring everyone to wear a mask regardless of vaccination status, they surely have a good reason for doing so.

Please help us by being your most compassionate and understanding self. If wearing a mask is not something you're willing to do, just take your money to another business until their rules change.

What if you want to keep wearing a mask? If you're vaccinated but still want to wear a mask, you're allowed to do so regardless of what other people are doing around you.

The State of California has extended its indoor mask mandate through at least February 15. This is in light of the fact that California’s 7-day average of daily new Covid-19 cases almost doubled between Dec 31 and Jan 5. In other words: the omicron variant is here and it is very busy.

Throughout the state of California, face masks are required to be worn indoors in public spaces beginning Wednesday, December 15. This is in response to a 47% increase in Covid case rates in the state since Thanksgiving and a rise in hospitalizations. This mandate is scheduled to last at least until January 15. We in Downtown Old Monterey thank you for your patience and your continued support of our small, locally-owned businesses this holiday season.

Throughout Monterey County, face masks will be required to be worn indoors in public spaces beginning Friday, November 5. This is because Monterey County has reached the "substantial" community transmission level of Covid-19 according to the CDC. There are some exceptions to the mask mandate, all covered in the article . These exceptions include indoor dining, situations in which a mask would "impede a medical or cosmetic procedure," or at a meeting where all vaccinated people have shown proof of vaccination (unvaccinated people still have to wear masks).
