ZURB: Designers Gone Wired

Posted on August 26th, 2015 by sheldon

We'd like to make a shout out to our friends down the street at an excellent Product Design company in Campbell by the name of ZURB. They're getting ready to take on a 24-hour design sprint for charity. It's a challenge they started ten years ago called Wired.

Each year, ZURB chooses a charity that they'd like to help out by donating marketing and design help. The effort is kicked off in a 24-hour coffee driven all-hands-on-deck sprint where together with members of the charity's team, they come up with a complete makeover of the company's marketing approach. At the end of the sprint, the lucky charity will have a shiny new website, marketing materials, and an action plan on how they can best utilize their professional looking new tools to get the word out about their mission.

The beneficiary of Wired this year is the Downtown Streets Team, a non-profit dedicated to helping the homeless by helping them find housing, develop skills, and find employment.

They've requested that we help boost morale by sending messages of support to their soon to be exhausted team. You can do that over the social media of choice by hash tagging your message with #ZURBwired. They start at 8am on Thursday morning, and it's a direct non-stop flight from there so keep those messages of support coming, especially in the later hours.

You can also follow their progress during Wired here:

Kickstarter Campaign to Reopen Osio Cinema

Posted on August 18th, 2015 by omba

Three enthusiastic former employees of the Osio Cinema (including the general manager, Jirko Senkel) have met the goal of their Kickstarter campaign to raise $70,000 by September 2, 2015 to improve and re-open the much beloved Osio Cinema in Old Monterey. Want more information or to offer your support? Visit the Kickstarter page!

They aim to use the funds to renovate and update the lobby and the individual screening rooms. The goal? To create an atmosphere that cultivates community and provides a space where one can not only enjoy fantastic foreign, independent, and art-house films including exceptional documentaries, but also sit in the mezzanine and enjoy offerings from local wineries and California's best breweries.

We'd like to heartily thank the City of Campbell and particularly the Parks and Rec department for organizing another amazing season of summer concerts in Downtown Campbell. This is their show. We're just happy to be the neighborhood in which it's hosted. All credit goes to the city for this wonderful summer tradition.

As a last word about the 2015 concerts, we'd like to share with you this video of someone having waaay too much fun at the final concert with the Sage Band. Having waaay too much fun is encouraged, BTW.

Ok, I just posted a photo of this, but the video is even better. Here's a video of the "teeth on a stick" dancers at the Sage concert tonight in Downtown Campbell. What a great way to close out the 23rd annual Summer Concert Series. Let's hear it for the City of Campbell's Parks and Rec department!
