The Downtown Campbell Car Show is a great opportunity for your business or organization to be seen. Because our car show is about doing fun things to create community and supporting small locally owned businesses, we've kept the sponsorship rates affordable to allow more businesses and organizations that love Campbell to participate.

We're keeping this simple. It's just one rate. $350 gets you on the back of this year's t-shirt plus you get on our sponsor grid on the official Historic Downtown Campbell Car Show Page.

If you'd like to join in and support our car show with a sponsorship, please email carshow@downtowncampbell.com for details. Space is limited to 24 sponsors.

NARCAN Now Boxes in Monterey Provide Free Access to Naloxone

Posted on May 6th, 2024 by lighthouseave

The City of Monterey, in partnership with the Central Coast Overdose Prevention Coalition, has installed NARCAN Now Boxes to provide free access to the lifesaving opiate overdose reversal medicine Naloxone.

Boxes have been placed at Monterey Transit Plaza (500 Tyler Street), Monterey Police Department (351 Madison Street), and the Monterey Outreach and Navigation Center (401 Camino El Estero).

Naloxone is an opiate antagonist that rapidly reverses an opioid overdose. It has no effect on someone who does not have opioids in their system.

Why is the City of Monterey doing this? Drug overdose deaths in California continue to rise. In Monterey County, statistics show that drug related overdose deaths in the first six months of 2023 surpassed the drug related deaths in all 12 months of 2022. Use of Naloxone can prevent death from opioid overdose.

Monterey History and Art Association in partnership with Monterey Bay Jade Festival and Barrett Fine Art and Jade present an exhibition showcasing one of Monterey History's best kept secrets: Jade.

"Monterey's Hidden Gem" invites you to traverse the veiled pathways of history and delve deep into the emerald-hued legacy that has quietly shaped our community. From the tranquil shores of Monterey Bay to the rugged cliffs of the Big Sur coast, jade has silently woven itself into the fabric of our local narrative.

Through a captivating display of artifacts, photographs, and interactive exhibits, "Monterey's Hidden Gem" reveals the untold stories of jade miners and artisans who carve out a living from the earth's green bounty. Experience the history and allure of Monterey Bay Jade at the Stanton Center through the end of June.

A free opening reception will be held on Saturday, May 18th from 3:00-5:00 PM.

New item alert! If you like quesabirrias, Mission 19 Taqueria's menu now offers a SUPER quesabirria for even more delicious goodness. Visit us at 598 Lighthouse Avenue in Monterey and try it. We're open Sun-Thu, 11am-8pm, and Fri-Sat, 11am-9pm.

Birria is a regional variation of barbacoa from western Mexico, consisting of beef marinated in adobo sauce then cooked in broth. We serve ours Tijuana-style with melted cheese, onions, and cilantro in a freshly handmade corn or flour tortilla with a side of consome (broth) for dipping.

Cypress Boutique just got in some great spring styles for men, including t-shirts, shorts, hats, and bracelets (leather or beaded). Go check them out at 800 Lighthouse Avenue, Suite C in Monterey.

What does this mean? When you order takeout food from Montrio, 10% of your order will automatically be donated to this nonprofit children's museum in Downtown Old Monterey where curiosity and creativity flourish and both children and adults can discover the thrill of lifelong learning. Thank you all for your patience while we worked on getting our 2024 Historic Downtown Campbell Car Show Registration site online. We're now taking entries for our upcoming car show to take place in Downtown Campbell on Saturday, June 29th.

To enter your car, please visit: carshow.downtowncampbell.com.

All entries will be screened by our panel of professional judges. Once your entry has been approved to enter the show, we'll email you to collect your entry fee and complete your entry into the show.

We're going to be swamped with entries in the first two weeks so please allow us a little extra time to get through the flood of initial entries.

Last year we ran in an issue with the number of cars we were allowed to have in the show and we had to ask some people to volunteer to withdraw cars that we had already accepted into the show. If you were one of these people, please mention it in your submission to receive priority for entry.

Hopefully we won't need to repeat that painful exercise again this year. After a good showing in our first year, our police department is allowing us to have more cars in the show this year. We still won't have unlimited space, but we'll be able to accept a lot more cars than we did last year.

The Campbell Heritage Theatre's 20th anniversary is next week and they're celebrating by bringing in legendary R&B artist, Mavis Staples on Friday, May 10th. We're joining the party by giving away a free pair of tickets on Facebook to see her!

To enter do the following on Facebook:

The winner will be randomly chosen at Noon on Thursday, May 9th. Please make sure you check your Facebook Messenger for messages from Downtown Campbell on that afternoon. We will pick again at 8pm if we do not hear back.

Rolling Stone Magazine ranked Mavis Staples at #46 on their list of the top 200 singers of all time and the list of first-rate musicians she's worked with reaches across time and genres. Don't miss your chance to see this living legend.

MY Museum's 2024 Online Auction is now live and ready for your bids! We can't wait for you to see the incredible items. Whether you are looking for trips, spa services, gift cards to local restaurants, wine, new experiences, or family fun adventures, we've got you covered.

And the best part? Every penny raised from the auction goes directly to making this non-profit children's museum in Downtown Old Monterey a better, safer place for the kids of Monterey County and beyond. The online auction closes on Friday, May 10, at 6pm...will you be the lucky bidder?

Thank you so much to all of our auction donors - this would not be possible without you!

Venture Gallery presents the paintings of Cheryl Kampe, our featured local artist for May. Her latest exhibit is entitled Coastal Connections.

UPDATE: The Car Show Registration site is up.

Thanks for your patience everyone. We're getting ready to start taking registrations for our upcoming car show on Saturday, June 29th.

Registration for the 2nd Annual Historic Downtown Campbell Car Show will begin at 9am on Saturday, May 4th.

There is no charge for submitting your car. If your car is approved by our judges for entry into this year's show, there will be a $45 entry fee required to complete your entry.

This is a juried car show with professional judges. We will hand out custom trophies for the best car in seven categories:

  • Best in Show
  • Best Truck
  • Best Hot Rod
  • Best Muscle Car
  • Best Import Car
  • Best Street Machine
  • Staff Pick

You may enter more than one car, but if we start running low on space, we may ask you to limit your submission to only one vehicle to allow the most number of people a chance to participate in our show. The good news for this year is that we've been approved to have at least 100 more cars than we were allowed in last year's show so we'll have more space to work with.

Entry details will be finalized and announced on DowntownCampbell.com prior to the start of the registration period. There will be an official announcement on the homepage with a link to our Car Show Registration site on Saturday, May 4th.

We're really looking forward to building on our first show last year. We'd love to feature as wide of an array of unique and interesting cars as possible.
