Henry's Rack-Tracker Card

Posted on November 20th, 2012 by Lighthouse District

Henry's BBQ Restaurant in the Lighthouse District is pleased to present Henry's Rack-Tracker! Over time, buy 10 full racks of our delicious pork spare-ribs and get the 11th free!

Pick up our free Rack-Tracker card at the restaurant. Every time you purchase a full rack of pork spare ribs, our staff will add our special stamp to your card. When the card is full, you can turn it in for a free rack of pork ribs.

Please excuse our dust! Despite the construction on Lighthouse Avenue, all our businesses are still open. Please consider supporting us by shopping and dining in the Lighthouse District, especially during this somewhat less-than-tidy time. We hope that all construction will conclude in early December. If you have questions or concerns, please phone Candy Ingram at The Ingram Group, 831-373-3609. Ms. Ingram is in charge of community outreach for the construction project.

Construction update as of December 4, 2012:

The bus stop at Irving is complete. The bus stop at Hoffman is nearly complete (MST still needs to put in some pavers and install the bus stop shelter).

The bus stop at Reeside is still at least one and a half weeks away from being completed. The installation of the bus pad, curb, gutters, and sidewalk will be very dependent on the weather because the next step is to pour concrete.

By the end of December, MST is hoping to have all the new signal controllers installed on Lighthouse and Foam, which we hope will improve traffic flow.

Introducing Amir's Grill & Bar!

Posted on November 1st, 2012 by Lighthouse District

Amir's Kabob House, located at 794 Lighthouse Avenue, is now Amir's Grill & Bar! That's right, we've renovated our dining room and expanded our bar, but the ownership and the kitchen staff is the same and we're still serving the same great Afghan kabobs that locals have come to love.

Stop by and enjoy Happy Hour at our full bar Monday-Friday, 5pm-7pm, featuring $4 draft beers and 1/2 off a glass of wine.

Amir's Grill & Bar is open 7 days a week:
Sunday-Thursday, 5pm-10pm
Friday, 11:30am-2pm & 5pm-10pm
Saturday, 11:30am-10pm

We're now hosting belly dancing shows on the second and fourth Friday of the month, as well as opening up our new dance floor for swing dance, salsa, and more on many Saturday nights. Check the Lighthouse District calendar for details.

Curious what it's all about? Download our dinner menu (served 7 days a week) and our lunch menu (served Fridays and Saturdays).

Photos are now online of the Fourth Annual Children's Trick-or-Treat on Lighthouse, October 27, 2012. We hope you enjoy them!

If you took photos at the event and would like to have them added to our online collection, please e-mail your favorites to info@lighthousedistrict.net.

The New Monterey Business Association would like to thank the many hard-working volunteers who made this event possible (including a fantastic team from the Defense Language Institute) as well as the many participating businesses and families who made it a great success!

All Lighthouse District businesses are strongly encouraged to attend the New Monterey Business Association Board Meeting at 9am on Wednesday, October 24 at Scholze Park Center (280 Dickman Ave).

At the meeting we'll be discussing the current construction schedule and challenges with MST and the City Traffic Engineer. This project has encountered a number of issues that have been extremely problematic for our merchants and businesses on Lighthouse Avenue. Please join in the discussion as we seek ways to lessen the impact on the business community.

At about 3pm on Monday, October 1, 2012, a water line broke on Lighthouse Avenue. CalAm and MPWMD are on the scene. As a result of the problem, the lane going towards Pacific Grove on Lighthouse between Prescott and Irving will be closed 7pm-7am, October 1-2, for repairs. During that time, vehicles should use Foam instead as of Lighthouse as a route to Pacific Grove.
