Orange Parfait is now on the beer menu at Fieldwork Brewing Company's beer garden, located at 520 Munras Avenue in Old Monterey. Come and give it a try!

Fieldwork Parfaits are a series of tart beers where we take a big and creamy base of oats and milk sugar then sour them in our kettle until they're bright, acidic, and effervescent. We then ferment and condition the beer on heaps of pureed or whole fruit until the beer is almost opaque with color, looking almost like a melted crayon. A small vanilla addition plays with the lactose to create a whipped cream-like flavor profile and a mouthfeel that is just big enough to compliment the fruit without overpowering or taking away from the real star of the pour. Each fruit variation will look, smell, and taste quite a bit different, but all should be their own version of a blended fruit parfait with a tart, creamy, and fruity finish.

At the beginning of July 2018, Alvarado Street Brewery decided to join the 1% for the Planet initiative, which encompasses a global network of businesses, non-profits, and individuals working together for a healthy planet.

Our production brewery will donate 1% of its gross sales annually to various causes. Some will go towards environmentally focused non-profits, some will go towards the purchase of carbon credits to help offset our footprint, and some will be in the form of volunteer work towards a variety of community focused causes. But this is just the beginning! Over the next several years our brewery will be taking a company-wide sustainability initiative with the eventual goals of adopting solar power, recapturing CO2, and significantly reducing water usage.

We're excited to join the 1% family of businesses, which includes some amazing breweries that we look up to. Sustainability will be a major part of our future and growth at Alvarado Street Brewery, and we can't wait to implement our goals and work with some incredible people and organizations along the way. You can visit our independent, locally owned and operated Alvarado Street Brewery and Grill at 426 Alvarado Street in Old Monterey.
