MIIS Panel Discussion: Bottom Up Research on Environmental Justice

MIIS presents a panel discussion with Oakland and San Francisco Bay Area community activists entitled Bottom Up Research on Environmental Justice on Monday, April 23, 6pm-7:30pm in the McGowan Building, Room 102. This event is free and open to the public.
In the panel, Margaret Gordon and environmental justice advocates from the Oakland/San Francisco Bay Area will discuss how they build community empowerment and help local residents achieve their own vision for healthy neighborhoods. Using the tools of community-based participatory research projects and collaborative problem-solving, Ms. Gordon and her colleagues will provide a roadmap for environmental justice activism that can be modeled in any community.
Panelists will include: Margaret Gordon (West Oakland Environmental Indicators Project), Phoenix Arementa (Resilient Communities Initiative), Janice Hunter and Sheridan Enomoto (Green Action for Health and Environmental Justice), and Michelle Pierce and Karen Pierce (Bayview Hunters Point Community Advocates).
