On the second Sunday of each month, come to Old Capitol Books to see the poets of the Monterey Bay Poetry Consortium. This afternoon's featured poets are Bob Nielsen and Nils Michals, who will read from their work. There is a suggested donation of $5.

Robert Nielsen is a Carmel Valley poet, writer, photographer, and painter, and has segued into full-time art-making after practicing law for many years. Born in Australia, he has lived, studied, worked, and traveled in a number of countries. His art reflects his perceptions, feelings, dreams and stories, and also his worldwide experiences. His poetry has appeared in various anthologies, journals, and other publications. He serves as a co-host of the Monterey Bay Poetry Consortium Monthly Reading Series.

Nils Michals is the author of three collections of poetry, Lure (Pleiades, 2004), Come Down to Earth (Bauhan, 2013), and most recently, Gembox (The Word Works, 2019), a collection of prose poems which won the Washington Prize. Recent work has appeared in [PANK], Miracle Monocle, Catamaran Literary Reader, and Phantom Drift, among others. He lives in Santa Cruz and teaches at West Valley College.
