Monterey Bay Poetry Consortium: Readings by Illia Thompson and Kai Siedenburg
This event has already passed
On the second Sunday of each month, come to Old Capitol Books to see the poets of the Monterey Bay Poetry Consortium. This afternoon's featured poets are Illia Thompson and Kai Siedenburg, who will read from their work. There is a suggested donation of $5.
Illia Thompson, a graduate of Antioch College, found her poetic voice after she moved to Carmel Valley to become Director of Carmel Valley Cooperative Preschool in 1970. Later, a time as writing instructor at MPC became her work under The Older Adult program. Currently she teaches Memoir Writing at The Carmel Foundation and in her home. Regularly, she holds day long journaling workshops. Gathering poetry helps to clarify her personal journey.
Kai Siedenburg is a nature connection guide, ecotherapist, and poet based in Santa Cruz. Her work is co-created with the natural world, infused with love, and rooted in what Carolyn Casey calls “a willingness to collaborate with everything.” Through her intimate original poems, we feel what it is like to walk on padded paws, to take wing, to root ourselves in the Earth.
