All are welcome to join participating artists, friends, and families for the opening of the 2025 Biennial at Monterey Museum of Art on Saturday, May 17, 11am-4pm. Admission is free. The Biennial will be on display May 15 - August 31.

About the Opening Celebration

Enjoy beverages and light bites from Cafe Guarani in MMA's Sculpture Garden and spend time in the galleries exploring the exhibition.

We'll feature a live performance by local bassist Glenn Bell 11am-1pm, and a dance duet by Kelsey McFalls and Maxwell Simoes of Ballare Carmel at 3pm. The Museum's Executive Director, Corey Madden, will speak at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm.

About the Biennial

Monterey Museum of Art is delighted to announce the launch of the inaugural Monterey Biennial. With over 800 pieces of art submitted, the Museum accepted work by 122 contemporary artists living in Fresno, Kern, Kings, Monterey, San Benito, Santa Cruz, and San Luis Obispo counties for this groundbreaking exhibition celebrating Central California's diverse and dynamic talent.

The theme for the 2025 Biennial, Resonance and Reflection, encourages a wide range of interpretations and allows artists from across the region to contribute diverse creative perspectives and spark public dialogue about contemporary California art.
