200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training at Union Yoga in 2019

Posted on November 4th, 2018 by Union Yoga

Union Yoga presents a 200 hour yoga teacher training February - June 2019. For more information, please attend our information session on Sunday, December 2 at 4:30pm at Union Yoga, 244 Pearl Street in Old Monterey, or e-mail us.

We knew when Union Yoga was launched that if we were to offer a teacher training that it would have to be exceptional. It would have to be a deep dive of traditional methodology, philosophy and discipline and truly prepare individuals with the skills to teach (even beyond a yoga class). Noah Maze is known as the teacher of teachers offering some of the smartest and clearest programs available anywhere. He has a select group of teachers who offer the MazeMethod, carrying his name and specific guidelines for a stellar 200 hour program. We are honored and excited that Nichol Chase and Peach Friedman will be bringing this method to Union Yoga. This is a program that you will appreciate while you're going through it and the appreciation will grow over the years.

The Mazé Method is a rare yoga school, with an enduring dedication to the pursuit of educational excellence, offering unparalleled student experiences across a broad spectrum of yoga academia and experiential education. Our trainings are informative, ever improving and customized to each group of students’ needs and goals. We emphasize logical analysis, clear language, and critical thinking.

The Mazé Method 200-hour teacher trainings take you on a journey of self-discovery and education into all things yoga. Our foundational training (200–hour) program is ideal for serious students of yoga, aspiring yoga teachers, and teachers with varying levels of experience. Students with injuries and health issues are also encouraged to attend. Our curriculum combines detailed alignment and intelligent sequencing with vinyasa theory, and provides you with sound knowledge and skills to teach safe and effective yoga classes. This training is recognized by Yoga Alliance and focuses in three areas of study: The Theory and Practice of Yoga, Yoga Philosophy, and The Art of Teaching. Trainees may thus register with Yoga Alliance at its RYT-200 level upon successful completion of this training.

In this training, you will study and deconstruct asana (yoga poses), pranayama (breath work), meditation, applied anatomy, therapeutics, yoga theory and practice, yoga history and philosophy, basic Sanskrit, ethics and boundaries, and you will master the skills required to teach. With great precision and clarity, your trainer will cover the primary tools needed to teach yoga to others. In addition to studying the fundamental yoga postures, topics will include:

*How to improve your own yoga practice
*How to teach a yoga pose
*Actions and alignment
*Purpose and use of props
*Restorative poses
*Observing and understanding bodies
*The art of teaching
*When and how to modify yoga poses
*How or whether to touch students and when to use adjustments
*How to effectively sequence a class
