Posted on November 7th, 2019 by Curtis Gallery

The Curtis Gallery, recently opened at 451 Washington Street in Downtown Old Monterey, is pleased to announce the release of ethnologist and photographer Edward S. Curtis's Hupa and Yurok photogravure copper plates. Each plate is unique, one of a kind, historic, and beautiful, and is now available to avid collectors of Native American art and history.

In 1924, Edward S. Curtis (1868-1952) published Volume 13 of his series of books, The North American Indian. In Volume 13, pages 3 thru 54, Mr. Curtis reflects upon his interactions with the Hupa and Yurok tribes, including thirty-eight and eighteen photogravure images respectively.

The Curtis Gallery has been provided the opportunity to exclusively offer twenty-six Hupa and seventeen Yurok copper photogravure plates to you, should you have an interest in enjoying a permanent part of history. Please contact us at 831-920-1405 for more information.
