How to Report Potholes in Monterey

Posted on April 8th, 2016 by lighthouseave

From the City of Monterey: City of Monterey street crews are searching for potholes with the help of Monterey residents. January through March is typically the busiest season for pothole repairs, due to wet weather and cold temperatures. Over 600 potholes have been filled this year so far.

Potholes are the result of rain infiltrating the soil beneath the roads. Over time, the water can cause the material under the pavement to erode, causing the pavement to sink and break. Traffic loosens the pavement even more, and it eventually crumbles and pops out.

Pothole patching is a temporary repair, intended to minimize damage to vehicles and prevent further deterioration of the street. To report a pothole, please call 831-646-3927.
