About the Lecture

Margaret Anna Jacks (b. 1874) was one of Central California's most important humanitarian philanthropists. In this talk, Mimi Sheridan will describe the Jacks family and show how Margaret, who is virtually forgotten now, shaped the Monterey we know today.

About Mimi Sheridan

Mimi Sheridan is a native of San Francisco and a graduate of UC Santa Barbara. She has lived in Pacific Grove since 2016 and is currently president of the Monterey State Historic Park Association. For many years, she lived in Seattle, where she earned a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning and Historic Preservation from the University of Washington.

Mimi has worked as a consultant in neighborhood and architectural history, community planning, and regulatory compliance. She also taught historic preservation in UW’s urban planning program and the Osher program.
