Monterey Historic Preservation Lectures at Stanton Center

May is Historic Preservation Month, and Monterey State Historic Park Association (MSHPA) and Monterey History and Art Association (MHAA) are teaming up to provide two historic preservation lectures in the Stanton Center Theater on Sunday, May 10, 1pm-3pm. This event is free and open to all - please register here.
The Lost and The Saved
In the first lecture, Los Perdidos y Los Salvados ("The Lost and the Saved"), MHAA board member Scott Gale will provide a broad overview of historic Monterey buildings lost and saved along with information about some of the people associated with the buildings. Gale will emphasize buildings that MHAA helped to preserve.
MSHP: 120 Years of Preservation
In the second lecture, MSHP: 120 Years of Preservation, MSHPA President Mimi Sheridan will provide an overview of the park’s buildings with some stories about the donors and preservation challenges over the years. One recurring theme is of collaboration between State Parks, MHAA, and the City of Monterey.
