About the Workshop

In this workshop, you'll create a small, portable, fabric sewing kit (a "husswif") to organize your needles, thread, scissors, pins and other sewing essentials. You'll learn basic construction techniques, pocket designs, and clever decorative elements.

We'll spend time planning how the finished kit will be used that reflect both your sewing / stitching needs and your personal style.

What Is a Huswif?

A huswif is a fabric sewing kit that folds or rolls and is designed to organize needles, thread, scissors, pins, and other sewing essentials. The huswif originated in the 18th century as a portable sewing kit used by both men and women to carry mending supplies. It was typically made from fabric scraps and folded into a compact wallet-like case, allowing users to repair clothing while traveling or working away from home.
