Monterey Hostel Has Reopened!

Good news! The nonprofit Monterey Hostel , offering overnight lodging for school groups, families, and adventure travelers, has been extensively renovated and reopened under new management at 778 Hawthorne Street.

Are you a New Monterey resident and have friends or family coming to visit you this year? In 2024, local residents can save 15% and receive free guest parking for reservations of 2+ nights when you book via our website - use the promo code NMNA2024 .

The hostel now has 13 rooms (private or dormitory-style) with space to host around 50 guests. Wheelchair-accessible rooms are available. All guests share a community kitchen, dining room, lounges, and work station.

The annual LGBTQ+ Pride Celebration and Parade will return to Downtown Old Monterey on Saturday, June 29. Parade begins at 11am, going down Alvarado Street from Pearl to Franklin.

After the parade, bring the whole family to Custom House Plaza, 12pm-3pm, to enjoy speakers and free entertainment for all ages, lunch from local food trucks, and info tables from over 65 groups and agencies.

Slowfiber and The Pearl Works invite you to repair what you wear, have fun, and help us raise money for Community Human Services on Saturday, April 27, 6pm-8pm. Learn to repair your own clothes or get items repaired while you wait!

Bring along a few items of clothing you want fixed and we'll either teach you how to mend it or one of our repair fairies can do it for you. All proceeds go to Community Human Services. Register here . Admission is $20-$50.

Monterey Pacific Rotary Club is collecting new and gently used luggage (backpacks, duffel bags, carry-on bags, etc.) for The Kinship Center / Seneca.

Many local foster children carry their things in garbage bags or shopping bags when transitioning into care homes. Let's give these kids their own luggage.

If you would like to donate your new and like-new luggage please call Carolyn Harris at 831-869-8655 by May 31. A pick-up can be arranged.

Taste of Campbell is THIS Saturday! This is your chance to sample bites from a variety of Campbell food establishments and try beer & wines from local wineries and breweries. You won't want to miss this because this year's food lineup includes TWO restaurants that are listed in the Michelin Guide and you'll have a chance to try both of them in one place!

Funds raised from this event benefit Campbell CERT and their mission of training and equipping a network of citizen first-responders in the event of a large scale emergency. It's a fun afternoon and a good cause for a great organization.

The owners of Lilify at 281 Lighthouse Avenue have announced that their shop will be closing and a talented new team, a local family, will be moving in, reimagining and reopening this beloved retail space.

Before Lilify closes, they're having a big sale! The entire shop is now 25% off both in store and online . All sales are final.

The tables and displays built for the shop are for sale, available only in-store and first come, first serve, with no delivery, for $100 a piece, regardless of size, shape, or condition.

The Foolish Times invites you to help us clean up Downtown Old Monterey streets - let's beautify our beloved Downtown in honor of Earth Day!

Check in at 9am at the Stanton Center at Custom House Plaza. Bags, buckets, gloves, and pickers will be provided. We'll also have donuts, coffee, water, snacks, and entertainment. All participants and families will get free admission to Stanton Center's art gallery that day!
