Venture Gallery invites you to meet local artist Evelyn Klein in person on Friday, January 21, 2pm-5pm. Drop by the gallery, view her new exhibit, Printmaking Meets Painting , and speak with her while she demonstrates her techniques.

Evelyn Klein has spent a lifetime working on bridging the boundaries between printmaking and painting, exploring their intrinsic natures. Her work will be featured at the gallery throughout the month of January.

Fleet Feet Monterey hosts a Pub Run every Monday at 6:00pm. We'll begin and end at Fieldwork Brewing Company. All paces, levels, distances, and abilities are welcome. Post-run, we can grab a beer together!

Kids' Bike Drive at Epicenter Cycling

Monterey, CA

Help local underprivileged children experience the joy of cycling by donating gently used bikes to Epicenter Cycling's Kids' Bike Drive.

Now through December 31, bikes can be dropped off at Epicenter Cycling at 230 Lighthouse Ave. Cash contributions are also appreciated and will go toward the purchase of new Trek bikes for donation.

Please note: we cannot accept donations of department store bicycles as they can't be tuned up.

Monterey Fire Department is collecting food and toy donations this holiday season. The toy drive will run through December 15; the food drive will run through January 3.

A community toy-wrapping party will take place on Friday, December 16, 6pm-10pm at Monterey High Gym. Everyone is invited to help wrap presents!

Cheryl Kampe has always been aware of her mother's family history as weavers in the town of Chimayo, New Mexico. She writes: "These blankets have adorned our families' homes all my life and are the inspiration for my paintings." Her family worked in wool, while she now renders beauty from oil paint and cold wax.

Ballot Drop Box at Monterey Public Library

The U.S. midterm election is November 8, and it's time to vote! The local ballot will include candidates for City Council for Districts 1 and 2 and for Mayor.

A permanent Monterey County Elections ballot drop box for voters is installed at Monterey Public Library, available 24 hours a day until 8pm on November 8. The County will empty it on a regular basis. Just drop your ballot safely in the box at 625 Pacific Street.

Fall Food Drive at Dali Museum: October 2022

The MHAA Salvador Dali Exposition is hosting a Fall Food Drive in support of the Food Bank for Monterey County. In October, for every 4 non-expired shelf-stable items you bring in, you'll receive half-off admission to the exhibit.

Film Students: Apply for Scholarship from Monterey County Film Commission

Applications are now being accepted for the Monterey County Film Commission’s Director Emeritus Richard Tyler Film Student Scholarship Award Program. The deadline to apply is November 4.

The scholarship program was created to provide financial aid and incentive to students of film and beginning filmmakers who live in Monterey County or who are currently enrolled in a community college or university in the county. Eligibility details and application forms can be downloaded on the Film Commission's website .
