5 Cognitive Functions CBD Can Help You Improve

Posted on November 12th, 2024 by cloudcity

Undoubtedly, this century’s defining characteristic is the rise of science and technology. Unfortunately, this means we are more distracted than ever before. The distractions are never-ending, with click-bait news headlines and app notifications grasping our attention at the expense of our cognition. We don’t give enough credit to the hard work our brain does to perform essential functions such as memory, learning, focus, and concentration. Moreover, we often gloss over how modern social norms – such as checking social media 24/7 – compromise those mental processes. Anyone familiar with epigenetics understands the risks of normalizing these seemingly harmless habits for our generation and future generations. In today’s blog, we’re uncovering one powerful agent that restores 5 cognitive functions you can start using right now.

What are the main 5 cognitive functions?

Emotional Regulation

As we’ve talked about before, stress is inevitable. We have little control over the many external factors that impact our circumstances. However, we do have control over how we respond to external stress. Stress blocks access to the frontal lobe, the part of our brain responsible for logic and reasoning. Thus, learning how to cope with stress and regulate our emotions are two critical components of cognitive health. The endocannabinoid system (ECS) helps the body manage stress by balancing neurotransmitters such as serotonin and cortisol.

In effect, supplements that support the ECS benefit emotional regulation. Take cannabidiol (CBD), an earth-derived supplement known for its calming, anti-inflammatory effects on the brain and body. By engaging directly with the ECS, cannabidiol reduces stress and promotes emotional stability, paving the way for enhanced cognitive performance.

Focus and concentration

Because the distractions of today’s world are so pervasive, concentration is more of a challenge than ever. When you need to focus on meeting a project deadline or completing an important task, you...Read More

Now that's a Good Salad!

Posted on November 9th, 2024 by The Good Salad

Have you heard about the new salad spot in Downtown Campbell? The story goes that they wanted to call it "The Best Forkin' Salad You've Ever Had," but the name was too long. They settled on "The Good Salad", which quite frankly is the perfect name for the restaurant because when you're done, it'll be very hard not to say out loud "now that was a good salad!"

When Sanad Al Souz set out to open a salad restaurant, he wanted his salads to be more than just a healthy food option. He wanted them to be salads you'd crave and look forward to and these salads are indeed delicious! The ingredients are all natural and prepared daily for the freshest flavor. Nearly everything is made in-house from the highest quality ingredients. All of their dressings are homemade and with the exception of their sesame dressing, no seed oils are used. They only use extra virgin olive oil.

The Good Salad has six signature salads on their menu with each one a chef-crafted delicacy to match a different flavor profile. You can customize each one to your heart's content or build your own salad from scratch. Even better, you can build it online and dash in and out if you don't have time to sit down.

The Downtown Campbell location of The Good Salad is the 4th location in the Bay Area. You might recognize their location as the previous home of the much beloved Brown Chicken Brown Cow. Downtown Campbell may be The Good Salad's fourth location, but it's their first one where they have a proper dining room of their own. Two of their other locations only offer pick-up window service only and the third one is part of a food court.

The Good Salad is located at 397 E Campbell Ave and they're currently open for lunch and dinner Monday through Friday. They're located across from Rad & Co Salon behind Bestie's Boutique.

As cannabidiol (CBD) gains recognition in modern health management, it’s become a popular buzzword. But what is CBD used for, and how can you access its holistic health benefits? CBD is the second most prominent compound in the hemp plant, with potent analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. Research supports this compound for achieving and maintaining internal homeostasis. This blog will outline the benefits and practical ways to incorporate cannabidiol into your daily routine to achieve optimal wellness.

What is CBD used for?

In a previous blog post, we discussed how CBD interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS), a complex network of neurotransmitting receptors critical in regulating several physiological functioning abilities. The interaction between cannabidiol and the ECS influences these natural bodily functions, making CBD a versatile wellness supplement that enhances physical and mental health.

Relieving stress and anxiety

The common denominator of cannabidiol’s incredible effects is its anti-inflammatory properties. Studies show CBD reduces stress and anxiety by supporting the serotonin receptors in your brain. Thus, whether you’re dealing with a general anxiety disorder (GAD) or a specific stressful situation, incorporating cannabidiol into your daily routine can help you better manage by promoting a sense of calmness and relaxation from the inside out.

Enhances focus and mental clarity

A byproduct of CBD’s calming effects is enhanced concentration. People who take CBD daily report significant improvements in concentrating on important tasks, making it an excellent supplement for anyone looking to increase productivity. So, whether you’re preparing for a big presentation at work or need to stay sharp through a day full of back-to-back meetings, CBD products can be a helpful and valuable tool to lean on.

Supports better skin health

In addition to its anti-inflammatory properties, cannabidiol contains some fantastic antioxidant properties. As such, it’s become a staple in many skincare products for several reasons. CBD’s powerful antioxidant properties support skin health by soothing irritation, reducing redness, and fighting signs of aging. Using skincare products with CBD means increasing your chances of giving off that clean, youthful glow everyone is after.

Improves sleep patterns and quality

CBD is a game-changing asset to your routine if you struggle with sleep issues. CBD facilitates a restful night of productive sleep for your brain and body by interacting with your endocannabinoid system. While asleep, your brain...Read More

Venture Gallery presents the paintings of Maria Poroy and Carole Klein, our featured local artists for November. Their joint exhibit, Double Vision, features their dramatically colorful abstract work.

Maria Poroy and Carole Klein often create work that is different but often feels in sync - not like identical twins, but perhaps fraternal. Maria noticed how, over the years, she and Carole would bring in works that just seemed to belong together - they love to use the full range of blues, rich reds, acrylic paint, and mixed media. So the idea was hatched: why not do a joint exhibit? And just to make it more fun, they set a few guidelines on color and format for the show, but they won't see each other's work until it's on the wall at the gallery.

Venture Gallery is open 10am-6pm daily. Maria Poroy and Carole Klein's artwork will be featured through November 2024. Venture Gallery is located at 260 Alvarado Street in Downtown Old Monterey. Visit our website to shop online for work by our local artists.
