High Scores Arcade has Laserdisc games on the floor ready to play at 459 Alvarado Street in Downtown Old Monterey!

What's a Laserdisc Game?

A Laserdisc game is basically an interactive movie. These games are pretty challenging because you have to execute perfect timing to move the story forward. The buttons on the control panel are simple, it's the timing that makes them complex.

Laserdisc Games at High Scores Arcade

At High Scores Arcade, we have an instruction card on top of each Laserdisc game to help you better understand how to play it. And our pricing allows you to play an unlimited number of games within a given amount of time, so you can improve your skills with repeated tries.

Hours & Pricing

Price is $10 for 1 hour of unlimited gaming, or $22 for a full day of unlimited gaming with in-and-out privileges. Summer hours are Sun-Thu, 12:30pm-10pm, and Fri-Sat, 12:30pm-11pm.

About High Scores Arcade

The Mercury News published a nice introduction into what the owners of the soon to be opening 7 Stars Bar and Grill are trying to do with their new location in Downtown Campbell. Their location in Downtown Campbell is expected to be a continuation of their previous location in San Jose that closed in 2021.

The bar and grill will be sci-fi themed with a heavy Star Wars influence, but they're planning for an all-inclusive environment in more ways than one.

"They have declared 7 Stars as a safe zone for all people, regardless of color, race, religion, gender expression/identity or who you love."

From the sounds of it, anyone who was a fan of their old location should instantly feel at home in their new place once it opens. They were known for all kinds of serious nerd-out trivia nights that were so popular that people had to be turned away and they're going to be bringing those back.

Read more about what Lisa Thorn of the Mercury News had to say about Paul and Marya and their 7 Stars Bar and Grill (gift link).

Our 2024 car show is barely in the books and we're already getting asked when the 2025 show is going to be. We don't have a date yet and probably won't have a date until early next year, but expect it to be around the same late June timeframe.

If you have any special skills you'd be interested in contributing, make sure you mention them. Volunteers are awesome. Skilled volunteers are even better.

Make sure you choose the Car Show as one of your areas of interest, but we would welcome your help with any other events as well!

The 2024 Historic Downtown Campbell Car Show is in the books! We hope you enjoyed attending it as much as we did hosting it. We've got awards from the show for you and other things to announce. There were seven prize categories with a custom trophy awarded to the best car in each group as selected by our panel of judges.

  • Best Truck - Rick Heinrich - 1951 Ford 3100
  • Best Muscle Car - David Fernandez - 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle
  • Best Street Machine - Gary Schuitemaker - 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle
  • Best Hot Rod - Ben Seward - 1956 Chevy Nomad
  • Best Import - Art Gabriel - 1973 BMW 2002
  • Staff Pick Award - Jaime Huerta - 1971 Buick Riviera
  • Best in Show - Speedtech Motorsports, Kevin Moore - 1935 Ford 3 Window Coupe

Scroll down to view photos of the winners.

Thank you to all of you who entered your car into our second juried car show. After a very well received, but more modestly sized first event in 2023, we came back in our second year with a larger event that added over 100 cars to the 160 that were entered the previous year. We also added two new award categories this year for Best Street Machine and a Staff's Pick Award.

Our second show was by all measures everything we had hoped for with one exception. If you were there and you thought the show ended earlier than it was supposed to, you're right. A couple of of the car show entrants broke some car show rules and caused the Campbell Police Department to call off the show 45 minutes early for safety reasons. We'll have more car shows. Those two will never again be a part of them.

Regardless, even with an awkward ending, it was a great show and you can flip through our official event photos if you missed it. It was no easy effort. A small army of volunteers were needed with many showing up as early as 6am to help prepare for the day. Thank you massively to all of our dedicated helpers who helped us pull this off. We couldn't have done it without you.

While we're thanking our volunteer teams, please remember that this car show and most of the events that happen in Downtown Campbell are entirely run by volunteers who contribute countless hours of their time to make things happen. Some of them put in hundreds of hours a year.

In no particular order, some of the tireless people who made this show happen this year were:

The Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance and Mercedes-Benz have chosen Monterey County Youth Museum as one of the local nonprofit organizations to benefit from their annual car drawing. The winner of the drawing will receive a beautiful new Compact Luxury Mercedes-Benz SUV GLA 250 (MSRP $46,150).

MY Museum has been given 1,500 tickets to sell for $100 per ticket. All funds raised will be used for MY Museum's educational programs and will provide subsidized museum visits for schools and families in challenging circumstances.

The drawing will be held on August 18, 2024 at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance (you need not to be present to win). Tickets can be purchased in person at MY Museum, over the phone at 831-649-6444, or by reserving tickets online - we will call you for payment. Once payment is made we will mail you your tickets and receipt.

Help us bring joy and learning through play to children! Be assured that every time someone buys a ticket (or two or three) for the car drawing, MY Museum staff do the happy dance in the office.

Please note: winner of the car will be responsible for all applicable taxes, licensing, and transfer fees. Delivery is limited to within the USA only.

Nacho Bizness Under New Ownership

Posted on July 9th, 2024 by Nacho Bizness

Big news, Monterey food lovers! Nacho Bizness, located at 470 Alvarado Street in Monterey, has changed ownership.

After 8 years of very hard work, the brilliant duo behind the creation of all your favorite Nacho Bizness recipes, Steb Montez and Brittani Reid, have made the decision to sell the restaurant to another very hard-working, talented team, the Manasiri family. Does the name sound familiar? It's the same friendly family that's been serving up fantastic, mouth-watering dishes at Manasiri's Crepes and Sandwiches down at 321 Alvarado Street for years.

You'll find that Nacho Bizness still has the same delicious menu and fun atmosphere. Come on down and show the new owners some love! It won't be hard to do once you take a bite of the nachos...or the burritos...or the mac and cheese...

Nacho Bizness is now open Sun-Thu, 11am-9pm, and Fri-Sat, 11am-10pm.

As a part of Park and Recreation Month, Campbell Recreation will be hosting a dance for individuals of ALL abilities and their loved ones!

Did anyone go to the 4th of July Parade in Downtown Monterey? If you did, you may have caught a glimpse of our very own Lighthouse District contingent in the parade. Our group was led by the On the Beach logo vehicle followed by Escape Room 831, The Break Room, and American Burger.

The 4th of July Parade is an annual Monterey tradition and this is the first time businesses from the Lighthouse District got together to join in the fun with the rest of the community. If you want to see more photos from this year's parade, take a look at the 4th of July Parade album on the Old Monterey website.
