Monterey Museum of Art invites you to experience the close connection between internationally renowned textile designer Kaffe Fassett and his niece, award-winning Monterey County artist Erin Lee Gafill, in this online event on Saturday, May 22, 11am-12pm. Fee is $15. Please register online.

First, witness a behind-the-scenes dialogue between Kaffe and Erin as they discuss their creative influences and shared family history, delving into personal processes and challenges as makers, alongside stunning images from their Color Duets collection. Then, join the pair for a live question-and-answer session, continuing the conversation and bringing you, the viewer, further into their inner sanctum.

Monterey Museum of Art is located at 559 Pacific Street in Downtown Old Monterey. It is opening to art museum members beginning May 13 and open to the general public beginning May 20.

Great news! Monterey County Youth Museum (MY Museum), located at 425 Washington Street in Downtown Old Monterey, will be reopening for members on June 17, 2021 and reopening to the general public on July 1, 2021. Online reservations are required - tickets will be available on our website for members on June 1 and for the general public on June 15. We have missed you sooooo much!

Did you have a MY Museum membership when the pandemic closed everything down in 2020? Your membership was frozen the day we closed and will be reactivated on June 16, 2021.

*Visitors are required to wear a face covering at all times.

*All staff members will maintain a 6-foot distance from visitors and other employees.

*We have changed our business hours to allow for more frequent deep cleaning between groups of visitors.

*We are conducting routine cleaning of high touch area, common spaces, and exhibits. We use hospital-grace disinfectants along with other products used in our industry as best practices.

*We've added more hand sanitizing stations.

*The HVAC system will be at full capacity during business hours and new MERV filters have been added to each unit in addition to 6 air purifying units throughout the building that will accommodate the appropriate number of square footage.

*We've reduced the number of objects and toys throughout the Museum.

Golden State Theatre, located at 417 Alvarado Street in Downtown Old Monterey, is happy to announce our reopening in August 2021 with a great line-up for the late summer and fall. Tickets for all of these shows will be available for purchase on our website beginning May 14 at 10am.

Monterey Fire Department is hosting a free walk-in Covid vaccine clinic for everyone age 18 and up on Saturday, May 8, 1pm-4pm, at the head of Old Fisherman's Wharf. They will be administering the Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine. If you haven't yet received your Covid vaccination, please stop by and get yours - it doesn't get much more convenient than this.
