This film tells the story of Dr Faraday, the son of a housemaid, who has built a life of quiet respectability as a country doctor. During the long hot summer of 1948, he is called to a patient at Hundreds Hall, where his mother once worked. The Hall has been home to the Ayres family for more than two centuries. But it is now in decline and its inhabitants - mother, son and daughter - are haunted by something more ominous than a dying way of life. When he takes on his new patient, Faraday has no idea how closely, and how disturbingly, the family's story is about to become entwined with his own. Watch the trailer.

Emboldened by the authority the uniform grants him, he amasses a band of stragglers who cede to his command despite the suspicions of some. Citing direct orders from the Fuhrer himself, he soon takes command of a camp holding German soldiers accused of desertion and begins to dispense harsh justice. Increasingly intoxicated by the unquestioned authority, this enigmatic imposter soon discovers that many people will blindly follow the leader, whomever that happens to be. Watch the trailer.

I can’t believe my eyes. BIG news for our little shop. Tears of joy are fresh on my face as the opportunity I’ve been hoping & praying for is unfolding. You heard that our building just sold, rents doubled, and to be honest I considered taking a long overdue, semi-permanent vacation... but I surely didn’t want to leave you all without our local childrens boutique if I could still make it happen. We’ve lost too many good ones! Through purpose, perseverance, and a little bit of delusion (or what some may call aspiration) WE ARE NOW...
wait for it...

E-X-P-A-N-D-I-N-G the storefront! We will occupy double the space within our courtyard just as soon as we can get it up and running.

There’s still so much to accomplish, but it’s all happening, & I’m thrilled to share it with you. Spread the news, Stripes x2 is on the way! I’m going to document all our adventures in designing this new space and I’ll need your input!

Monterey Peninsula 49ers and Raiders fans: want to avoid drinking and driving to the "Battle of the Bay" game? Then carpool on a party bus organized by The Bull & Bear from Monterey to Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara on November 1, where the Oakland Raiders will be playing against the San Francisco 49ers. The $75-$100 price will include: carpool to and from Levi's (departing from The Bull & Bear at 1:30pm), an all-you-can-eat-and-drink tailgate, and a safe ride home 30 minutes after the game. Note: this offer does NOT include game tickets.

The final price will be set once we have an idea of the size of the group. The Bull and Bear is doing this to help everyone steer clear of drunk driving (pun intended). We have a preliminary sign up sheet at Bull & Bear Whiskey Bar and Taphouse, located at 479 Alvarado Street in Old Monterey. Stop by and sign up if you're interested.

Comanche Cellars Wine Room, Old Monterey's newest wine spot located at 412 Alvarado Street, is pleased to offer Happy Hour Monday - Thursday, 4pm-6pm. We're offering $7 glasses of select wines and a $7 cheese board.
