This film tells the story of Dr Faraday, the son of a housemaid, who has built a life of quiet respectability as a country doctor. During the long hot summer of 1948, he is called to a patient at Hundreds Hall, where his mother once worked. The Hall has been home to the Ayres family for more than two centuries. But it is now in decline and its inhabitants - mother, son and daughter - are haunted by something more ominous than a dying way of life. Based on a true story, The Captain follows a German army deserter, Willi Herold, after he finds an abandoned Nazi captain's uniform in the final weeks of World War II. Citing direct orders from the Fuhrer himself, he soon takes command of a camp holding German soldiers accused of desertion and begins to dispense harsh justice. Monterey Peninsula 49ers and Raiders fans: want to avoid drinking and driving to the "Battle of the Bay" game? Then carpool on a party bus organized by The Bull & Bear from Monterey to Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara on November 1, where the Oakland Raiders will be playing against the San Francisco 49ers. The $75-$100 price will include: carpool to and from Levi's (departing from The Bull & Bear at 1:30pm), an all-you-can-eat-and-drink tailgate, and a safe ride home 30 minutes after the game.
