(Thanks to Gloria and Adil, owners of International Market and Deli, for this great photo!)

Bamboo Reef Dive Shop, located at 614 Lighthouse Avenue in Monterey, is excited to announce that we now carry Sea & Summit sunscreen! Most popular brands of sunscreens contain harsh chemicals that kill our coral reefs and fill our landfills with plastic. Sea and Summit aims to protect us from the sun while also protecting our oceans.

Sea & Summit sunscreen is plant-based, made from 6 organic ingredients you can eat and pronounce. It's a certified broad spectrum, SPF 36+ protection that’s reef-safe (clinical testing resulted in an SPF 40 for 7 out of 10 people). This sunscreen won't irritate your skin or eyes, rubs in clear, is baby and kid safe, and is excellent for water sports.

We are sad to report that Sunshine Freestyle Sport, located at 443 Lighthouse Avenue in Monterey, will close its doors on July 31 after 42 years in the community. We'll be having a big sale until then to get rid of all our inventory. We invite you to stop by, find a good deal, and say goodbye to owners Rob and Rich.

The 2018 running of the Campbell Summer Concert Series starts this week with the return of one of the crowd favorites, The Hitmen! If these concerts are one of your (excellent) summer traditions, please be aware of a couple of new policies that start this year.

No Parking at City Hall without a Permit before 5pm
You can no longer park at City Hall before 5pm unless you have a permit. If you park there without a permit, expect to get a ticket.

No Setups Before 2pm
Please do not setup for the concert until 2pm or later. Having towels and lawn chairs all over the Orchard City Green before 2pm interferes with the work of the grounds crew.

That's all. That's not too bad as far as rules go wasn't it? Let's thank the City of Campbell for continuing to do what's been such an awesome benefit of living in and around the City of Campbell. All credit for organizing this and keeping it going belongs to the City (which is entirely separate from what you know as Downtown Campbell).

Let's also thank the Kaiser-Permanente for being the long time sponsor of this fun series of events.

The San Jose Mercury News' 17th annual Best In Silicon Valley Reader's Choice Awards have been announced and Downtown Campbell again has a few businesses included in the list of winners. For a small downtown that has to compete with fewer resources than most other downtowns, it really means a lot to us every time one of our shops lands on a "best of" list.

Let's congratulate the three winners in Downtown Campbell!

Bombshell Boutique

Tied for 1st place for Best Boutique in Silicon Valley

Bombshell Boutique is one of the longest running boutiques in Downtown Campbell. Only Simply Smashing has been around longer. Bombshell is particularly near and dear to Downtown Campbell because its owner, Brooke Ramirez, is highly active in the Campbell community and has organized or helped to organize countless events and activities in Downtown Campbell throughout the years. This store not only tied for best boutique in Silicon Valley, its owner helped to make Downtown Campbell the place that it is today.

Oh, so you want to see what they offer? Take a look at the Bombshell Boutique Instagram page.

Campbell Farmers' Market

The Campbell Farmers' Market run by Urban Village needs no introduction. If you haven't been, you need to go. People visiting the US from other countries actually come to Campbell just to check out the Farmers' Market. In the past year alone the Campbell Farmers' Market has been featured in visitor guides for British Airways and a Mercedes Benz travel club.

Flex Fusion Studios

Winner of Best Fitness Club & Best Yoga Studio

Flex Fusion is more than a barre studio. They offer classes in various fitness regimens: barre, yoga, TRX, and boot camp to give you a well rounded workout in one place. Their instructors are fantastic and the make fitness a bonding activity for their members.

Recycle Bookstore

Winner of Best Neighborhood Book Store (2 locations)

Despite its name, Recycle Bookstore, doesn't just carry used books. It started off as a used book store, but these days you'll also find a healthy selection of new best sellers, young adult, children's books, graphic novels, and academic paperbacks in addition to the wonderful preloved volumes filling up their shelves. As if having a great selection of books wasn't enough, they also host regular meetings of the Recycle Book Club several times a month and often have author appearance events happening with the Sunday Farmers' Market in Downtown Campbell.

When you want to use it, simply attach the spray nozzle to the RinseKit hose with the quick coupler, select one of the 7 spray settings and fire away! The patented design has no moving parts and can be filled with hot or cold water an infinite number of times.
