Celebrate PARK(ing) Day at Parklets in Old Monterey 2025
Friday, September 19, 2025 - 10:00am

On Friday, September 19, 10am-2:30pm, the City of Monterey invites you to celebrate PARK(ing) Day, when we'll transform parking spaces into parklets on Alvarado Street between Pearl and Franklin with green spaces, outdoor seating, and fun and educational booths from various City departments. Bring your kids to check out the City vehicles!
Expect to see representatives from Monterey Parks, Recreation, Sports Center, Harbor, Library, Police, Fire Department, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), and Forestry.
The City's Housing Division will also host AMEG LLC, displaying a modular steel flat pack housing unit, offering a cost effective solution for communities in California.
What Is PARK(ing) Day?
Celebrated on the third Friday in September, PARK(ing) Day celebrates parks and public spaces in cities across the country, and raises awareness of the need for more pedestrian-friendly spaces in our urban areas. The initiative also promotes civic pride and invites residents to think about how we can transform our local urban environment.
Please note: PARK(ing) Day will temporarily close several parking spaces on Alvarado Street between Pearl Street and Franklin Street.
