About Garden Tours
On Thursday (6/11) and Saturday (6/13) we're offering a free Garden Tour which will include stops at the beautiful Memory Garden designed in 1927 by Frederick Law Olmstead, Jr. and the Casa Soberanes Garden with its terraced garden walkways. The 1.5 hour tour will detail the history of each garden and reveal the secret language of flowers that bloom in the region.
About the Historic Gardens of Old Monterey
Discovering Monterey's historic gardens – our "best kept secret" - will come as a beautiful surprise! Due to Monterey's mild climate, flowers can be found blooming much of the year. Some of the gardens contain fountains you can make a wish in. Others have arbors and quaint walkways bordered by abalone shells or wine bottles. One site even has whalebone for a walkway.
These beautiful gardens can be as small as a few planters to as large as a few acres. Some are hidden by walls or are tucked away off the beaten path. Throughout the summer, the gardens are open to the public 9am-5pm at no charge, and do not require reservations to meander through on your own. Click here for a map of Old Monterey's historic gardens.
