Through a captivating display of artifacts, photographs, and interactive exhibits, "Monterey's Hidden Gem: A Journey Through Jade's History" reveals the untold stories of local jade miners and artisans who have carved out a living from the earth's green bounty.

Join the parade! Together as a community, we'll bring entertainment, excitement, and a whole lot of fun to Monterey on Independence Day. We are now accepting applications to participate in the 2024 4th of July Parade . Entry deadline is Friday, May 31.

We welcome bands, floats, drill teams, dance groups, unique vehicles, entertainment troupes, and equestrians. Get creative and think outside the box!

Monterey Hostel Has Reopened!

Good news! The nonprofit Monterey Hostel , offering overnight lodging for school groups, families, and adventure travelers, has been extensively renovated and reopened under new management at 778 Hawthorne Street.

The hostel now has 13 rooms (private or dormitory-style) with space to host around 50 guests. Wheelchair-accessible rooms are available. All guests share a community kitchen, dining room, lounges, and work station.

The annual LGBTQ+ Pride Celebration and Parade will return to Downtown Old Monterey on Saturday, June 29. Parade begins at 11am, going down Alvarado Street from Pearl to Franklin.

After the parade, bring the whole family to Custom House Plaza, 12pm-3pm, to enjoy speakers and free entertainment for all ages, lunch from local food trucks, and info tables from over 65 groups and agencies.

Many local foster children carry their things in garbage bags or shopping bags when transitioning into care homes. Let's give these kids their own luggage.

The owners of Lilify at 281 Lighthouse Avenue have announced that their shop will be closing and a talented new team, a local family, will be moving in, reimagining and reopening this beloved retail space.

Before Lilify closes, they're having a big sale! The entire shop is now 25% off both in store and online . All sales are final.

The tables and displays built for the shop are for sale, available only in-store and first come, first serve, with no delivery, for $100 a piece, regardless of size, shape, or condition.
