This event has already passed

Monterey Museum of Art presents a storytelling time with Iluminado exhibition artist Edi Matsumoto on Sunday, December 10, 2pm-3pm. Edi will be assisted by students from Monterey High School, who will act out the story.

Edi will be telling the traditional Japanese story of the Tanabata, in which the deities and lovers Orihime and Hikoboshi are separated by the Milky Way, only allowed to meet once a year on the seventh day of the seventh month of the lunar calendar.

Edi Matsumoto came to the U.S. 30 years ago and served the community as a family nurse practitioner before becoming a full-time artist and designer. An active member of Old Monterey's Venture Gallery, she is known for her realistic figures and portraits, and her work has won numerous awards. It has been shown at galleries and museums locally, nationally, and internationally. Her studio is located inside the Church of the Wayfarer in downtown Carmel.
