July 4th Living History Day 2026 - Monterey State Historic Park

Monterey State Historic Park's Living History Day will be held on July 4, 11am-4pm in the Memory Garden, located behind Pacific House Museum at Custom House Plaza. Bring the whole family for old-fashioned fun for all ages! The festivities will begin right after the July 4th Parade.
Activities
Step back in time and participate in Early California activities such as rope making, leather stamping, tortilla cooking, map making, embroidery, candle making, and playing 19th century games. Guided History Tours will also be offered at 11am, 1pm, 3pm, and 4pm.
Admission
Admission is free, but donations are encouraged - all funds will support the California State Parks Title 1 School Year Programs.
Exhibits Outside Custom House
Be sure to also stop by the upper plaza area near Custom House, where several local organizations will have family-friendly exhibits and activities. You'll find a children's coloring activity presented by Monterey History and Art Association (MHAA) as well as booths by the Historic Garden League and Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District.
