Free Emergency Skills Training: Monterey CERT, Fall 2025

Monterey residents! Learn about emergency medicine, fire extinguishers, disaster preparedness, shutting off your utilities, rescue, communications when phones fail, and assessing a home or workplace after an earthquake or storm.

The next Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training program begins on October 11 and continues on three consecutive Saturdays. Anyone may enroll by sending an e-mail - you'll receive a confirmation with class details.

Sea Lions on San Carlos Beach - June 2025

Monterey, CA

Sea lions are back in large numbers at San Carlos Beach. The City of Monterey has temporarily closed the beach to keep all humans and pinnipeds safe.

Everyone, please remember to enjoy the sea lions from a distance - they are large and can be territorial and unpredictable.

A reminder: all marine mammals, including sea lions, are protected under the Marine Mammal Protection Act. People who harass, feed, capture, or kill any marine mammal could face a hefty fine or even jail time. It's their bay too.

New Instructor at Monterey Core Fitness

Monterey Core Fitness introduces our new instructor and fitness coach, Morgan Gose. Morgan is now leading our early-morning group training classes Mon-Fri, and she's available to take on a limited number of personal training clients.
